WHO WE HELP
Built for the cases that don't fit a generic protocol.
We work with people who need precise, whole-body assessment - not a 20-minute symptom check. If your situation is on this list, we'd like to hear from you.
Spinal pain, sciatica, or post-surgical recovery
Mechanism-based assessment for stubborn back, neck, and nerve-related pain.
Pre- or post-surgical rehab
Surgeon-aligned rehabilitation matched to your operative plan.
SIJ, pelvic, or hip-driven pain
Restore pelvic load tolerance and confident, predictable movement.
Sport, strength, return to load
Strength integrated into rehab so you return to full load with capacity.
EDS, hypermobility, or CCI
Considered, graded rehab for joint instability and hypermobile bodies.
You've tried physio and it hasn't worked
A reset - re-assess mechanism, re-build the plan, re-load the system.
Three things that change the outcome.
OUR APPROACH
01
Whole-body, root-cause assessment.
We assess the system that's loading the painful tissue, not just the painful tissue itself. That's why we find drivers other clinicians miss - and why your plan is different from the last one.
02
Surgeon-aligned care.
We work alongside Brain & Spine Surgery and collaborate with neurosurgical and orthopaedic specialists. Pre- and post-operative rehab is matched to surgical intent — not generic protocols.
03
Strength built into rehab.
We integrate evidence-informed loading from the first session you're ready for it. You leave with capacity, not just temporary symptom relief.
IS THIS A FIT?
We're not the clinic for everyone - and that's the point.
If the left column sounds like you, we'd like to hear about your case.
Likely a fit if…
✓ Persistent pain that hasn't resolved with previous physio
✓ You're preparing for or recovering from spine or orthopaedic surgery
✓ You have suspected or diagnosed EDS, hypermobility, or CCI
✓ You experience SIJ, pelvic, or load-related instability
✓ You want to return to lifting, sport, or full load with confidence
✓ You want a clinician who looks at the whole system, not just the painful spot
Probably not a fit if…
— You want a single short session of manual therapy with no plan
— You're looking for the cheapest rate in the area
— You want passive treatment with no exercise component
— You expect a guarantee of pain elimination on a fixed timeline
HOW WE WORK
What an assessment with us actually looks like.
01
Initial assessment
(60-90 minutes).
A long first session. We take a full history, screen the whole body, test load tolerance, and look for the mechanism - not just the painful site.
02
Mechanism diagnosis.
We tell you what we believe is driving the problem and why, in language you can act on. If imaging or specialist input is needed, we say so.
03
Structured rehab plan.
A staged plan with clear goals, timeframes, and decision points. You know what we're doing and why at every step.
04
Strength integration and discharge.
We rebuild capacity, not just symptom relief. Sessions taper as you take over the load. Discharge is a milestone, not a gap.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you book.
A short list of what people most often ask us. If yours isn't here, the contact form goes to a real person.

Do I need a GP referral to see a Biokinetics physiotherapist?
No. You can book directly. Referrals are only required if you're using a Medicare EPC plan, or workers' compensation pathways.
How long is a first appointment?
Initial assessments are 60-90 minutes depending on complexity.
Follow-up sessions are typically 30-45 minutes.
Can I claim with private health insurance?
Yes. We process on-the-spot rebates with most major Australian private health funds via HICAPS where available. Bring your card.
Do you treat EDS, hypermobility, or CCI?
Yes. We have dedicated assessment and management pathways for hypermobility-spectrum and craniocervical instability cases.
Will you work with my surgeon?
Yes. We routinely communicate with neurosurgical and orthopaedic specialists, including pre-/post-operatively. Bring your report or specialist letter.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Any imaging or reports (MRI, CT, X-ray, surgical notes), a list of current medications, and clothing you can move in (shorts or activewear).
Which clinic should I choose?
Choose the location closest to you, or the one with the practitioner whose profile fits your case best. All five clinics offer our full assessment model.
What if previous physiotherapy hasn't helped?
That's a common reason people come to us. We re-assess from scratch - mechanism, load, and capacity - and build a different plan.
